I have a breeding pair of Societies.
The female has a lot of brown where the male has a lot of white.
I prefer mostly white.

This pair is on their second clutch which just fledged.
One baby has a lot of white on it which I really like.

My question is:

If I keep this mostly white one and get another mostly white one what are my chances of getting a mostly (or more) white one?

Does having mostly white society parents result in mostly white babies or is it the luck of the draw?

I think it's the luck of the draw. It also would depend if either/both parents are split to anything.

Any pics of the babies?

No clue what the parents are as I purchased them from a local pet store.

The last clutch both babies were mostly brown.
This time one had a lot of white.

Guess I will have to decide if I want to find another mostly white one and experiment!

Is there any downside to having mostly white societies or is it personal preference?

I have been working on society finches for some time and still can't say for certain if a pair will have unmarked pieds (white) babies or not. I have found that pairing chocolate pieds seems to give me the best chances for getting white or mostly white babies. I have yet to get any unmarked pieds from a fawn pied pair up or from fawn pied paired with a chocolate pied. If you pair two unmarkedd pied or mostly white you should be able to get mostly white birds.

There is not alot of info on society genetics so it is still trial and error.
