Many green backed red headed gouldians have a black bib under their beak although red headed and others don't. If I recall correctly has to do with a single and double factor red? or the bird with the black marking is a split to black head?

I think he means: Red Head Green Backs have the black surrounding their mask (and under their beaks), but Red Head Dilute and Yellow Backs don't have that black.

You get the black mask and bib with red or orange headed green backed LG's. The females will have a thicker mask. It has nothing to do with single/double factor or splits.

I was with the impression that there red and orange headed green backed gouldins that didn't have the black collar-mask.

If they are dilute (SF yellow) or yellow, the bib will either be muted or absent.

Like so:

This is a RH PB Dilute Male - notice how the black is reduced to a charcoal color:


This is a RH Lilac Breast SF Yellow Male - the bib is reduced a little more due to the Lilac Breast's effect on black as well.


And this is a RH PB DF Yellow Male - the bib is completely absent and is instead white because the presence of two yellow genes prevents the expression of black pigment.
