How can you tell if a silver cock is DF or SF before breeding it?
He is BH, WB, Silver and is about as white as they come. Hopefully I'll get a picture tomorrow.

Jordan - if he was SF his head would be charcoal or grey, not white.

Only a DF Yellow Silver male or a BH Silver hen will have a stark white head.
You should also still notice a distinct "mother of pearl" band behind the mask would be, which is virtually absent on the silver females.

Be very certain you're getting a male, as I have seen SO many times silver females being sold as males, and also the counter - silver males sold as hens.
Make sure the breeder has seen him sing.

Thanks Tiffany, I know he is a male. He sings quite a bit. I was buying at few Gouldians at a bird mart and this friend really liked the look of the all white Gouldians, but as it turns out, he isn't a fan of Gouldians in general. <gasp!>

I guessed he was a DF since he is very white, but I was hoping he was SF since being a SF would give me more of what I'm looking for mutation wise. However, pairing him with a BH, WB, NB split to blue would produce a SF silver.

Brought him home tonight. It's cool how the camera picks up the different hues of white and makes them look more obvious than in person.

Only Dilutes, Yellows, Pastels, or more Silvers - depending on the hen he's paired with.

25% Male >> Black (Head) - White (Chest) - SF Yellow Blue (Body)
25% Male >> Black (Head) - White (Chest) - SF Yellow / Blue (Body)
25% Female >> Black (Head) - White (Chest) - Yellow Blue (Body)
25% Female >> Black (Head) - White (Chest) - Yellow / Blue (Body)
