Could someone let me know why some yellows get these dark green spots? Is it considered a dilute...I would think not as this is a hen. :?
The father was OH/BH LB YB sf mother OH PB YB (don't know if she is split to anything) Also does she look like a lilac?

She does look very pale on the chest when compared to the other hen.
After checking with the Matos Gouldian Genetic Forecaster with the info you gave I got this answer. (I read you couldnt get this on your PC)

12.5% Male >> Orange / Black (Head) - Purple / Lilac (Chest) - DF Yellow (Body)
12.5% Male >> Orange (Head) - Purple / Lilac (Chest) - DF Yellow (Body)
12.5% Male >> Orange / Black (Head) - Purple / Lilac (Chest) - SF Yellow (Body)
12.5% Male >> Orange (Head) - Purple / Lilac (Chest) - SF Yellow (Body)
12.5% Female >> YTB Black (Head) - Purple / Lilac (Chest) - Yellow (Body)
12.5% Female >> YTB Black (Head) - Purple / Lilac (Chest) - Green (Body)
12.5% Female >> Orange (Head) - Purple / Lilac (Chest) - Yellow (Body)
12.5% Female >> Orange (Head) - Purple / Lilac (Chest) - Green (Body)

If the parent hen is split to Lilac chest your possibles are

6.25% Male >> Orange / Black (Head) - Lilac (Chest) - DF Yellow (Body)
6.25% Male >> Orange / Black (Head) - Purple / Lilac (Chest) - DF Yellow (Body)
6.25% Male >> Orange (Head) - Lilac (Chest) - DF Yellow (Body)
6.25% Male >> Orange (Head) - Purple / Lilac (Chest) - DF Yellow (Body)
6.25% Male >> Orange / Black (Head) - Lilac (Chest) - SF Yellow (Body)
6.25% Male >> Orange / Black (Head) - Purple / Lilac (Chest) - SF Yellow (Body)
6.25% Male >> Orange (Head) - Lilac (Chest) - SF Yellow (Body)
6.25% Male >> Orange (Head) - Purple / Lilac (Chest) - SF Yellow (Body)
6.25% Female >> YTB Black (Head) - Lilac (Chest) - Yellow (Body)
6.25% Female >> YTB Black (Head) - Purple / Lilac (Chest) - Yellow (Body)
6.25% Female >> YTB Black (Head) - Lilac (Chest) - Green (Body)
6.25% Female >> YTB Black (Head) - Purple / Lilac (Chest) - Green (Body)
6.25% Female >> Orange (Head) - Lilac (Chest) - Yellow (Body)
6.25% Female >> Orange (Head) - Purple / Lilac (Chest) - Yellow (Body)
6.25% Female >> Orange (Head) - Lilac (Chest) - Green (Body)
6.25% Female >> Orange (Head) - Purple / Lilac (Chest) - Green (Body)

Going by the forecaster and seeing how pale the youngster is it seems the parent hen could be a split lilac.
Think this is right.

It's hard to tell from the first and second pictures but in the last one she just looks like a purple breasted hen to me. All the lilac breasted hens I've had had an extremely light color purple, almost pink breast color. Not sure what's going on with her back color, should be interesting to see what she molts out to.
Good luck

I was reading up a bit on Gouldians as I know next to nothing on them and remembered reading your post and so perhaps this is something vaguely connected to your bird?

http://www.efinch.com/species/gould.htm

look towards the end of the article in the Yellow mutation.

Thanks monotwine! That explains a couple of my yellow backed Gouldians too! Though none of mine have as many green spots as the one in the top pic here.

Thanks Monotwine... I had read that article..as like you, I read everything on gouldians :D
I have had some males SF or dilutes before with some darker green feathers. Just never a female. It takes only a single factor to make the females appear yellow as with males it take 2 factors. Single factors are the same as dilutes. This of course applies to the purple breasted mutations.
What confuses me about these green spots is that it is a hen. I will wait and see what happens with the first adult moult.

Candace - I have one yellow Gouldian that always has two very dark green (almost black) feathers in her tail - always grow back green too after she moults them out. I've always thought she was "lightly pied" but I'm not sure that's the correct terminology.

That tail feather is most interesting, very unique :D

Some of the most unique markings I have ever seen are on Winnie's birds. Take a look at some of her pictures.

 I lost my spotty yellow 4 days ago. She was doing well and was getting some orange on her head so she wasn't a BH afterall. She was a little fluffed and I put her in a the heat cage. One I keep a light on all the time for goulds moulting heavily. She perked right up within 24 hours. 2 days later I found her dead on the cage floor in the early morning. Not sure if she injured herself in the new cage or if something was wrong with her other than moulting. She seem to have good weight on her and no distressed breathing symptoms prior. Mystery... This was my first fledgling I lost during the moult.
I was planning on keeping this one to watch the spots.... :( May she RIP.

Candace...that is really terrible. I'm sorry you lost her, she certainly was special.

Oh no :( :(
I'm so sorry! :(
I was dying to see how she'd turn out later with the spots, too.

Thanks... I hate loosing a bird but it is really frustrating when you haven't a clue as to why :?
On the bright side...the parents to this hen are on 6 eggs and yesterday when I peeked...one had hatched
Tiffany, this pair is the male I got from Rhonda...OH PB/WB YBsf and the hen is the same mate he had last year. OH PB YB. Last year they threw PB and LB so the hen must have /LB or /WB for the fledglings to have it. Right?
They had 1 really dark green dilute, and the 2 LB male were a more yellow and the 2 PB males are a lime green.
The females they had were both BH... one with a rtb and one with a ytb. So somebody is /BH but where did the rtb come from? From the same gene that produced the BH?

Did you mean the cock is Lilac/White?
Or is he Purple/White?

The father would have to be /BH to produce BH daughters. They (hens) inherit the sex linked head color from their father (so Red Head hens come from Red Head - df or sf - cocks, BH hens come from BH or SF RH Cocks)
OH is a combination of Red and Orange (which is carried by both parents).
So to be visually OH, the female has to inherit the red color + orange color from her father, plus the orange color from her mother.

The RTB shouldn't be present - two OH can only produce genetic OH, so all should have YTB unless she cheated on him ;)
