Check out the dark chest on this chick. Fledged 3 days ago. 2 other siblings look normal.

Is this guy related to the melanistic gouldian that died a few weeks ago?

Still have my melanistic fellow..he's almost colored out completely...still has his black spots and is healthy :D

It was my yellow back hen with orange head and the green spots on her back that I lost :(
But this new melanistic fellow is not related and unlike my other one was parent reared. My first was a tossed one that I handfed.
The new fellows parents are both Red Head Purple Breast Normal green back. This chicks will be a RH PB GB also ...we will see how the black on this one turns out.
