EggFood Recipe I Came Up With Today.

Post by DanteD716 » Thu Jan 05, 2012 7:45 pm

Ingredients: (can be modified for number of birds)

1 egg

Fresh veggies or fruits

2 tbl spoons of cornmeal

1 tbl spoon of abba mineral grit

1 tsp of seed per bird

Directions:

Boil the egg for 15 minutes

Smash the egg with a fork with shell

Add seed, and cornmeal.

Add veggies (I used chopped baby carrots and lettuce)

Shake all together and serve to your birds! I know it's not that good of a recipe, but is good for new finch keepers or first time eggfood makers. My birds (especially the zebra hens) loved it. Feel free to add to it. Also, I serve in shallow wooden bowls. They absorb alot of the moisture and are easy to clean and reuse.

I can't get my zebras to eat carrots, not even finely grated. Lucky you.

It is meant for people to steal! It'd be an honor, and only teonof the zebras and the societies.will eat them. If.you mush them up by boiling them and prinkle them with seed they may take it

I have started putting it all in the mini chopper and getting it all chopped up fine. My birds love it that way. Also been adding some sprouts. Used to grow my own from the bird seed - but have gotten lazy recently. I buy the little tub of sprouts from the supermarket. The birds get some, and I get some for my salads. We all win.

My birds also like the broccoli leaves as well as broccoli.
