So your birds won't eat their Pellets, try this.....
I started fooling around this week with diferent ways to serve up eggs in a dry form....I did theis and my birds went right to it...big hit with the zebras.
1/2 cup pellets
1/4 cup wheat germ
1/4 cup cornmeal
4 eggs and shells
Mix well and crush shells as you mix. Once mixed pour into a greased baking dish and bake at 350*. Bake until done and when a toothpick is inserted it comes out clean. Turn the oven off, leave the baked mix in the oven to dry it out more. Once cooled run it through a food processor to finely grind. Serve.... :> the mix

I also tried to make a new Dried Eggfood...
8.5 oz of enriched cornmeal
6 eggs and the shells
about 1/8 cup of steel cut oatmeal
1/8 cup Lafeber's Finch pellets
Mix well crushing the eggshells. Slow bake at 350* in a lightly buttered (no salt) pan until a toothpick insterted through the center comes out clean. Turn off the oven and leave the pan in the oven to help remove additional mositure....when it cools an I will grind it and serve it up to the birds.
This amount lasted enough to serve daily for two days...the dishes where empty in most of the cages, in others the bigger pieces were left.
it looked like this before grinding

Your recipe above (pellets/wheat germ/cornmeal/eggs) sounds incredibly easy. Am going to try it. My birds aren't crazy about the "egg bread" I make for them; am going to try to dry it out some & crumble it really fine.

I found with mine they will not eat a cake type food...dry, crumbled as fine as you can get it works. My parrotlet on the other hand eats everything!!

Where can one buy wheat germ? Store? Section of a Store? What about getting the stone ground oats? Is that different than Oatmeal we can buy for breakfast ourselves?

Grogery store, cereal section...the wheat germ comes in a jar, red cap. The Steel Cut Oats are in the oatmeal section. Steel cut are the whole oats cut...the rolled are the ones that are more in instant. The steel are suppose to be healthier for you. The birds like to eat the steel cut alone also.
