Newbie Here

Although they are technically passerines, canaries tend to be managed uniquely, so here is a forum just for them!

Newbie Here

Post by stockdogtta » Wed Oct 31, 2012 7:47 am

New here-1st post. Been reading everyone's post the past week or so...enjoy the pictures and all the great information.
Had kitchen canaries back in the 80's for awhile and now that I'm retired getting back into them. Right now have AS-5 singers and 2 hens and 1 Lipochrome hen. Going to add AS hen or 2 and a Lipochrome singer before breeding time next year. The breeder I get my birds from dont color feed and I dont know if I will or not either...from what I remember before....it can be a mess :D
Going to try and post pics...so bear with me.

You're getting back into birds as I am too. breeding and raising finches is a wonderful hobby for any age and I'm thrilled to be back. Your canaries look great, and well kept.

Dont know much about canary's myself , nice clean bird's you have =D>
Ive been tempted to get a pair of lizard canarie's , like the look of them . Trouble is I start to count up what I have ( too many if im honest ) and decide against a new purchase for now .

Lovely, lovely birds! Are any of them singing yet? I've had several cock canaries over the years, and a number of hens. Canaries make great pets.

All the birds are this year and was singing the next morning after bringing them home. Originally was only going to get one pair...that idea didnt last long. Went and got 3 more hens and 1 more singer today...so got 6 pair now...I'm done. :D
