Canary Singing

Although they are technically passerines, canaries tend to be managed uniquely, so here is a forum just for them!

What I do with my canaries is to play classical or soft jazz on the radio/computer or go on youtube and type in canaries singing. There are several that play for up to 15 min. Do that everyday to teach them. It works for me.

Good Luck

Singing is in their genes. Song canaries were bred for hundreds of years to achieve a specific frequency and pattern of song throughout various repetitive tours. Type and color canaries weren't. Although some type and color canaries CAN sing very well, they can only live up to their genetic potential. CDs and other methods can help to encourage and bring out the consistency of singing, but they will always revert back to what is programmed within them. Bob

Mine likes to try to outsing the vacuum cleaner. I keep telling him, "You win hands down, EVERY time!" but he still competes with it.

You might try playing some canaries singing on youtube to see if that gets him going
