Baby Roller Canary Hatched Today!

Although they are technically passerines, canaries tend to be managed uniquely, so here is a forum just for them!

Baby Roller Canary Hatched Today!

Post by BigBear0007 » Thu Jan 02, 2014 6:45 pm

My white male and yellow female rollers have a new baby!
In 2013 they produced 11 babies in the spring.
One more to hatch and it looks good!

The color of the eggs is gorgeous, but I am confused. Why is one mottled? Is that the fertile one, and the others are infertile? And congrats on the two babies!

The mottled egg is the one that hatched today.
The two bright blue eggs are plastic.
I took out the two real eggs the were dudds and replaced them.
I didn't want the dudds getting broken and messing up the nest.

Congrats!!!!!! Sooooo cute! I have one male Timbrado, one "blue"female and one "green" female Timbrado canary. The "green" just started building her first nest! Gonna have to wait and see what happens...think I will have to remove the female "blue" from the cage as they are getting aggressive towards each other since the Green started to built her nest.

Good luck! Let us know how they are doing!
