ABBA supplement

Although they are technically passerines, canaries tend to be managed uniquely, so here is a forum just for them!

ABBA supplement

Post by Harley2013 » Fri Jan 10, 2014 9:38 pm

When I bought Harley, I was given regular high quality canary mix, and ABBA supplement for Red feeding. I have been giving Harley a small pile of ABBA every morning in addition to regular seed, and every other day fresh fruits/ veggies. Am I giving the Abba seed correctly?

Also, I have been reading about winter feeding vs. summer feeding. I am not breeding, does this apply to Harley? I give home whatever fruits or veggies we have in the fridge. Not really following the winter/summer diet, but he does get covered about 5:15 in the evening and uncovered at 7:00 ish in the morning if that helps.

Winter/summer feeding is just an all around good practice for overall canary health, as it emulates the diet the bird would follow on a seasonal basis in nature. Whether of not you are breeding the bird, the bird should be in good health as if you were. It not only conditions the bird for breeding, but for moulting and general health as well. Bob
