Yellow chick
Hi my canary chick just recently fledged and he's yellow! But his parents are orange and white mosaics? Is this just to do with genetics and mutations or did I get an odd one??

Re: Yellow chick
Hi Graine
That's normal for mosaic fledglings, they need to be colour fed during moult to get the orange/red colours, in order to colour them properly the canary seed has to be without rapeseed (this activates yellow pigment in new feathers) and they also need to be fed caraphyll red during moult which colours the new feathers, your orange mosaic adults will also lose their orange colour if not colour fed during upcoming moult.
