Although they are technically passerines, canaries tend to be managed uniquely, so here is a forum just for them!

Well, Luchi feels it's his duty to defend both nests, at least once a day. The rest of the time, he chases the girls back to their nests, telling them to get back in there and keep 'his' eggs warm.
You would think, that he would offer to spell them out for a bit, but no such luck. Not even offering to feed his ladies now and again, huh!
Might have to have a talk with that boy of mine...

Oooh, how exciting!
Luciano is SO lovely. As are the ladies. So I bet you're going to have a big flock of lovelies!
I need to get me a canary.
You've got a tremendously fertile bunch over there! You constantly have eggs and babies! What's in your water, Elena? LOL
I've got my zebra (male) and society (hen) couple on a few zebra eggs to see if I can use them as a fostering pair. I think the eggs are probably duds, but that's okay if that's the case. I'm up to 3 so far, with the 4th to go in today. I think I'll stop around 5 (assuming a 5th is laid) and we'll see what happens!
Have either of your hens had little ones before?
I love the look of canary eggs. They're so pretty and tiny.
Humum to....
13 Zebra Finches....and 2 squeeps!
3 Society Finches
6 Gouldians
1 Weaver
1 Pintail Whydah
2 Cockatiels
2 Parakeets
....along with 1 MinPin, 1 Pug, 1 JRT, 1 Yorkie, 2 Chihuahuas and 15 cats.

Hi Mia...
Don't know if Frank bred them before. I asked him for a girl around Luciano's age (He's 2). So as far as I know both ladies are mature enough to know what's what.
And my Luchi, he's a wild man, chasing the girls around like a hound dog.
Regarding Canary eggs, they are blue and not as small as you might think. They are aproximately the size of Gouldian eggs, if not a bit bigger. I find them to be a llittle more round in shape.
Yes, you should get a Canary.

That Luciano is a gorgeous one. He really is.
How is it I didn't realize you had two beautiful canary girls? How did I miss this tidbit of info? AND you have them both on nests with eggs? Wow.
I love little blue canary eggs. And canary babies.
Can't wait to see the photos of these little ones.

She went to pick up one and came home with two and one of the hen's egg babies I believe which she fostered under Sharra and didn't hatch. I'm just shocked the trio situation is working. I too can't wait to see the pictures.

I'm sure I saw him sitting back with a smile on his beak, smoking a tinny tiny cigarette....

Hi Roxanne.
It would be nice to have baby Luciano's. I can't see myself keeping large numbers of Canaries, but I would probably keep one his sons.
