Palsy?

Although they are technically passerines, canaries tend to be managed uniquely, so here is a forum just for them!

Palsy?

Post by Siobhan » Sat Apr 25, 2015 10:52 pm

Trixie wobbles constantly. It's almost like a Parkinson's sort of movement. Anybody have any ideas what's up? She's never been in good condition since I brought her home thanks to too long in a pet store, but now she's not making any noises at all and is almost always puffed up.

Siobhan

Hi.

Sorry to hear that. Forgive my poor memory, but is she the one that was missing feathers from her head?

Have you placed her under a warming lamp? I find that whenever any of my guys feel a bit under the weather, this always seems to perk them up.

I moved her cage into the sunshine this afternoon and she's much better. So I fixed her up to where she'll be in sunshine every afternoon.

Siobhan How is Trixie? Just catching up on posts after being away for a while. Has anything helped her?

She's the same. She's still eating and pooping. I still have to clean poop off her bottom for her regularly because her balance isn't good enough to preen properly. She tries, but can't get to all of herself. She doesn't sing or chirp anymore and she still constantly wobbles.

Siobhan Sounds like you are doing everything for her. Hopefully her diet and time will help things improve.
