Luciano And His Second Set Of Youngsters

Although they are technically passerines, canaries tend to be managed uniquely, so here is a forum just for them!

Luciano And His Second Set Of Youngsters

Post by lovezebs » Wed May 06, 2015 11:31 pm

I spent some time today snapping pictures of Luciano with his children from his sevond clutch with Sofia.

The one that looks to have a crest looks pretty chill. It almost looks like a ball cap shape.

Such bright colors, they are all gorgeous.

Arama

There are three with the spiked hairdo's, and one with a regular round head. D'you know, that behind the little spiky 'do, they actually have a round baldy spot. I hope it fills out once they molt out.

They are adorable. The bald spot might not fill in, it's a common problem with crested canaries. They'll have to get a birdie toupee :)

Oh dear Lord, Anna.... I almost spit out a mouthful of tea because of you girl =)) =)) . Birdie toupees indeed!

Well somewhere around the flight, I should have a whole set of Parrot Finch tail feathers, maybe with a little super glue.... what d'you think? We could offer them as a whole new mutation, lol !!!

Atbird

I guess I'll have to consider this situation when naming them...
Baldwin, Baldi-locks, Baldiell, Baldanna.... Oh God, there are endless possibilities. ..... :-D :-D :-D

Luchi, is an amazing Canary Daddy. Other than Dylan's fellow (Weaver's dad), I haven't come across any Canary dads, that are as loving and caring. He is much better at raising babies than Sofia (the Mom).

They are cute, and starting to get their adult colours. Boys starting to warble a little now.

Congratulations! I love the crested canaries. Atbird I did not know about the bald spot - now I will have to check out Blue - my corona gloster. Hope he doesn't need a toupee! #-o Hmmm Baldana...I do like the sound of that.
