Finally caught him singing !

Although they are technically passerines, canaries tend to be managed uniquely, so here is a forum just for them!

Yes!!!!
He is definitely starting to sing for you, and a pretty song too.

If you Google 'Canary singing ', you can find loads of videos of Canaries from all over the world. Find some that you really enjoy, and play it to him as often as possible. In time, he will pick up the songs.

Wait until he's in his big new cage, he will sing and sing, and SING !

He sings like a Roller canary with his beak closed.
That is actually my preferred canary song!

StodOne Lovely little video and cute boy!. Did you breed him or just get him young?
I've got a lot of research to do on canary singing because I haven't clue on the differences and I own 4 boys!!.

Thanks for responses :D
@jonvill Yeah I like his song too but when I compare the song to my grand fathers canary , his canary goes on for 5 more different sounds , he has done some other sounds too that I didn't get on video .
@Animalzoo My grandfather had an old aquarium which he got tired from , traded it for a canary from a friend of his that is a breeder.
@Barbara Thank you :o

Jamm972 I will try to explain.
First off if you have recorded something , you would need to have internet as good as military grade if you want to upload the recorded file , because it will take too long.
To upload a video faster , you first need to render it with some kind of video editing software , everyone has Windows movie maker , some other programs are Sony Vegas , Adobe premiere and so on.
It is preferred you use something like Sony Vegas or Adobe Premiere , because of the quality , recently the videos I have been posting are not very high quality because I have set my settings on low , because it will take a good amount of time to render a big video with high video/audio settings.
So when you get your preferred program , you import the recorded file into the program and render it ( you can find tutorials online , it is very easy) when you have rendered the video , if you dont already have an account on youtube , make one .
Once you have made your youtube account , there is an upload button in the upper right corner of the screen , next to your account picture click on that , there will be a new window opening up , once it opens , either click on upload button and browse where your video is , or just drag and drop the rendered video file into the drag and drop area , now you can name your video and do little configurations .
I hope you got what I was saying , good luck :D

Your canary has harz roller blood. It does the fluttens, rollen and little klokende parts. Not sure if its a mix or pure though but if you like the harz roller song fi d him a harz girl and train the babies with proper song. Harz rooler are very devoted parents ime

andiok If only I found out what are their names in my native language so I can look for the female for him xD
It took me a while to find out the names of society finches(galebic) and Gouldian finches(Guld amadina)
But I think that Harz roller is (slavujar) in my native language which I think is what I have .
Because a friend has the "slavujar" and they look identical so yeah, thanks for response :D

what you have is a breed of harz roller NOT a slavujar. be sure of that as your bird sings with the beak closed. only harz can do that. the scientific name of all kinds of canaries is Serinus Canaria.
Harz roller is the first singing canary that was discovered in the Harz mountings of Germany.
here is some info about harz roller. http://www.birds2u.info/german_harzer_roller_canary.htm

the slavujar is a complete different kind of singing canary. (slavujar means nightingale)
i have bred slavujars for over 9yrs since they were first discovered. they are trained with a completely different song.
this is one my males just so you compare the song.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3NHjuZYmPSQ
look up my youtube channel and listen to the slavujar canary.

andiok Then I guess my friend was wrong xD , No offence I know what slavujar means I just don't know to tell the difference yet , I was given the canary without even knowing I was going to get it , nightingale actually translates to slavuj , not slavujar , slavujar would be translated "the one who sings like a nightingale" or "nightingale-er" but nightingale-er just doesent make sense , and the one who sings like a nightingale is too long , so they just call it slavujar , I am from Serbia and the name slavujar is from my native language so yeah I didn't know that people in other countries also call them slavujar.
Nice cage in the video , I have a similar cage , also wooden with circles for food and water , it is a bit longer.

@StodOne
just a game of words, not a nightingale but a bird that sings nightingale song. same thing, we all know we dont own nightingales but canaries. It is a bit too much to explain to someone what really means and honestly doesnt really matter to me what exactly slavujar mean but thanks for noting that anyways.
i was just trying to explain to you what your bird actually is. focus more on that and do your research about harz rollers. they are a very pleasant breed to have
