Re: Is my canary actually Gloster?
I know nothing about canary genetics and how they work. Would anyone be able to give me an idea of what sort of interesting outcome this pairing will produce? Color wise I mean of course.

Wow that is great!!!Meagan83 wrote:Yes, I love that about them too. They look, PLUMP! It's mostly just feather fluff though. They are quite fuffy. I am buying the female tomorrow and in a few weeks a friend of mine is giving me her male also and he is a Corona Gloster. Yellow with a gray "wig" lolDanteD716 wrote: Meagan! Congrats! I love the crested glosters, they look so fat!![]()
I am excited to see what the hen looks like. Not sure if she will be Corona or Consort or what color. I will post pix tomorrow

She does look to be a red mosaic. You will probaly get a mix or green/yellow varigated, and orange colored, varigated birds. But since both parents are so heavily marked the will look like the female with orange instead of red.

Re: Is my canary actually Gloster?
Thank you Dante. With Gouldians, genetics is a fine science, or comparable to math even. Once you know the bird's background, you know all possible outcomes. But canaries are not like that. When I paired this male with my last hen (a predominantly white, with some "blue") I got an almost solid yellow baby with 1 or 2 small flects of brown. I thought it very odd. Cute but not what I was expecting. I have no set expectations with this pairing. Anything will make me happy if it is healthy and robust. But I am curious
