When will a male canary start so sing?

Although they are technically passerines, canaries tend to be managed uniquely, so here is a forum just for them!

Sheather I too keep my male with my female. If they are together the male will sing less. I don't know what kind of light schedule they are on, but mine are on a natural light schedule and right now in the winter my male is very quiet. Come spring, when it is time to impress the female, he will start to serenade her. It is not as long or as frantic as a male that is separated from the female, but it works for me. Recently my female was caged separately (because she was fighting with another canary) and my male would not stop singing...honestly it was a little too much for me :) . Once he got his girl back he's quiet and hasn't really made any noise. So I would wait until spring to see if he doesn't sing, although there are canaries that don't sing too much, you might not want to breed him if he's one of those, but don't judge yet (especially since he has the female with him)
