Re: STEVE JUNIORS!?
Ha! lovezebs is right; he does have a squirrel tail! LOL
Oh is he ever cute!
He's a very photogenic little guy, isn't he?!
Well, I think he's very cute just the way he is!
He doesn't need fancy colors to be fabulous!
I love that he's sitting in the sun like mum used to do.
How is Walter? Is he still really upset? Is he tending to Weaver at all?

Re: STEVE JUNIORS!?
Walter by now has stopped calling for Steve, and moved on with Kari, who's gone to nest now, though I don't know if he ever successfully mated her he is feeding her and they look to have some pair bond established.
Walter began to feed Weaver again after a few days but I continued to supplement, the little guy stopped taking food from his dad at all two days ago at 29 days and now at 31 days old has completely weaned himself. He's as tame now as he was as a little baby and I hope he stays so. He enjoys sitting on my arm and going for rides around the house, exploring and peering out the windows. He still happily takes food from my fingers and lets me pet his chest and rub his cheeks with my nose and when he's sleepy he'll fall asleep right in my lap. Right now he's dozing on my desk next to me, crouched down on the mouse pad like a little chicken.

Re: STEVE JUNIORS!?
Sheather - LOL That's funny about the spider plants!
We had them in our house growing up and our cats were constantly trying to get them! They were in hanging pots from the ceiling and the cats would jump high up in the air in an attempt to snag a bite!
If he messes with them, you can just spritz with a bit of bitter apple spray. That stuff works beautifully! (Though spray it with a mask on or put a cloth over your face as it will be airborne for a couple seconds and inhaling it will make you want to vomit, as the taste is terrible!)
Any idea on gender? I imagine he's right at the age when he should start trying to sing if he's a boy.
How does he get on with Kari and Walter? Are they kind to him, I hope?
Has he formed any bonds with any of the other birds? Or is he more human-oriented?
He'll definitely stay tame as long as you keep interacting with him, so I wouldn't worry about that.
I'm so glad you've got little Weaver. Such a tragic situation with mum and he's like a lovely little ray of light; a little piece of her that will live on. I'm so glad he survived. It would have been unbearable if he'd passed too.

Re: STEVE JUNIORS!?
He is so cute. He should stay tame if he's tame after he fledged. Also, if he doesn't see his parents panicking or flying away, he will remain tame. That is so awesome, I love tame canaries.
