This morning Lilly laid an egg and I was watching her in the nest. I noticed that she has red eyes.... not black like normal canaries. She looks identical too yellow lipochrome lutino canaries but I cant find any info on them. Does anyone here know anything about it ? Lilly looks just like the bird on left (in the URL link below) so that would make her a non intensive lutino ?

The lutino is a class in the colorbred division of show canaries...
Perhaps you could contact the club and get acess to other lutino breeders. also contact the breeder you got this bird from and see what she can tell you.

There are many sites, especially in Europe that discuss this mutation... just google lutino canary
Very pretty, is she sensitive to sunlight? From what I have read this form of albinism is sexlinked and can come with eye sensitivity.

I shined a light into Mj's eyes and they are black but Lillies are definetly red. She laid me an egg today and I pulled it and gave her a dummy so we will see if any are fertile and if any chicks have red eyes. I am gonna read those sites you guys gave me and thank you for the sweet compliments. I am gonna try and get a pic of her soon. I am not sure about light sensitivity as my birds are on artificial lights and they dont seem too bothered by it specially her, but then again I never catch her looking into it like the others do.....LOL.

why would you pull the egg from her and not let her hatch it by herself? unless you plan to put them back after?

I am gonna put the eggs back after she is done laying so all have the same hatch date...... Even just one day makes a huge difference in size....

oh ok that makes sense lol, i have seen people try and pull egg to feed themselves......enough said loool. and i agree, especially with canaries.
