white and black canary 7 months old

Although they are technically passerines, canaries tend to be managed uniquely, so here is a forum just for them!

What do you need to know? Food? Breeding? etc.? Also, what type canary is that one, as I can't tell from the pic. Congrats on the new bird though! and Welcome!

Welcome! Well they need a good canary diet to start. In addition you should offer:

Fresh greens
smashed hardboiled eggs
cuttlebone
and fresh chopped fruits and veggies for a healthy diet..

If you are planning of breeding they need around 14 hours of light and a bowl nest nad some material to work with.

Your guy is pretty, we would need more picture to identify his color.

Canaries are great singer and are very rewarding, I would keep him. Also what breed is he? And what gneder? Only males sing.

He is very pretty, maybe a blue? (they have greyish feathers) He will probaly sing louder than your goldfinches, and for 20$ you cannot beat it! My canary could be heard across the entire house.

Do you plan on breeding him?

How long have you had him? Give him a couple weeks to settle in until he sings
