Is crinkle paper safe?

I was just wondering, is the crinkle paper you find at stores used as a gift bag or box filler safe for Canarys to play with? I was thinking it would be something for him to carry around the cage while playing. Some come colored while some come just white. The colored ones may not be as safe because of dye, but the white? Don't know if them playing with paper is safe at all.

I offer this as nesting material for my finches sometimes. I use the plain brown paper stuff, not the dyed ones. The white should be fine as well. I buy it from Dollar Tree

Okay great! Thank you! Yes, I have seen it at the dollar store as well. I do not have enough room for a nest in Harley's cage, but just wanted to offer it as something to fiddle with.

I don't know anything about canaries really, so I'm not sure if they are foragers or not. But I came up with a super simple DIY box that I sometimes use to offer nesting material, using a jewelry gift box. I will see if I can find the thread.

I've also done this with the little boxes that rolls of scotch tape come in as well.
