Molting in the dead of winter?

Harley is dropping feathers. It is the dead of winter here in New Jersey and he has been eating fine, very active, singing has slowed down a bit, bathing regularly, I am confused. I thought they only molt in the summer months? He doesn't appear to be losing any wing or tail feathers, but definitely body feathers. Should I worry? I have been giving him winter greens and fruits regularly. I have had him for about 3 weeks now. Could he still be adjusting to new home? He is placed in the dining room, covered at 5:15 at night, uncovered about 7:00 am, there are ambient lights in the dining room that are left on, but his cover is black so I think that works as far as lighting disturbing him, the tv is on until about 11:00 pm in the living room, which is close to dining room, could that be playing a factor? Or should I not worry?

Hey there,
I just posted about this recently and was given some excellent advice. My Beaker is also molting, however I live in SoCal and we are having a VERY warm winter. We're talking bright sunshine, mid 80's every day. I just found out that both of my neighbor's cockatiels are also molting. So weird. :?

Thanks for the read, Beaker's mom. I will continue to do as I have been as it seems I am doing all I can right now. I will watch and make sure things don't get any worse and Poe for the best. By the way... You say your in Southern CA. Where about? I was born and raised in San Diego. Moved here to New Jersey 15 years ago. I so miss CA. I visit every summer, my oldest son lives there as well as my entire family. :D

Yeah, I wouldn't worry too much…I did at first, and Beaker has pulled though just fine. I also lived in San Diego for a while…LOVE it there! But I'm from the Tustin/Irvine area. Pretty boring…lol, but I must admit I love the weather and proximity to things. But the traffic…hideous! :D
