What should I do? He calls for her at times as well. This is just awful!

The male is fine but will he continue to care for the eggs or any potential babies all by himself? I don't want to stress him out either.

Should I give the eggs to my large group of Society Finches?

I have no experience fostering canary eggs to Societies. Since canaries have a much different begging pattern, I wonder if the Societies would feed them? I think at this point all you can do is see if the male continues to incubate them. If not, then you could try them under the Societies. If so, and the eggs hatch, you will have to be prepared to hand feed, if the Societies don't feed.

So sorry you lost your hen, i lost 1 a few weeks ago with 5 2-3 day old chicks but luckily i was able to foster them out to other canaries although supplemental hand feeding was required. As Sally said i'd imagine the societies will hatch the eggs but won't feed the chicks so be prepared with a brooder and hand feeding formula, the chicks will require regular feeding through the night, for more info on hand feeding read the article in finch information centre

Just noticed you mentioned 8 eggs in nest which is an abnormaly large clutch for a male-female pair to lay, if they have been sitting on the eggs for 7 or more days candle them first to make sure the're viable before worrying about fostering them out.

A single canary parent CAN raise chicks by itself, but I agree with Smurf. 8 eggs would be an abnormally large clutch for one canary hen to lay. Bob

I did check all the eggs the same day it was suggested & all of them were empty.

I was thinking maybe she was egg bound?

Well I was able to get another female from the same woman & my male & her are showing interest in each other. To keep from having the same tragedy occur, any suggestions?

My male is used to 24 hr freedom & I let her out today for 1st time & she went back in her rabbit cage about 2 hrs later on her own.

He's fine thank you. He's happy there's another female canary here again.

Male canaries are wonderful pets. So are the females - they all like people and love to sing and chirrup to you in the mornings. I don't keep female birds generally as I've had problems with egg binding.
