LUCIANO AND HIS BRIDES

Although they are technically passerines, canaries tend to be managed uniquely, so here is a forum just for them!

LUCIANO AND HIS BRIDES

Post by lovezebs » Sun Feb 01, 2015 11:53 pm

Hello Finch Friends...

As some of you may recall, I had decided to get my Canary, Luciano, a bride.
As unexpected things sometimes happen (sometimes even for the good) I ended up with two brides for my boy ( two for the price of one ).

So, after several days of making googly eyes at one another, with the girls chirping and winking, and Luciano singing hard enough to bust, I decided that an introduction was in order.

Grabbing the girls, I let them fly into Luchi's domain.

Well.... you all should have seen his face. The poor guy's eyes almost popped out of his orange head as his song turned into a meek 'peeeyou' sound and a couple of feathers half rose up in consternation.

Sofia, ignored him, heading for the nearest food bowl. Sienna, on the other hand, made a bee line for his perch, fluttering her pretty tail and giving him the come hither look.

My poor boy, went YIKES! and ran away. Well let not a determined female be deterred by a shy male, she followed him, untill it was a free style chase around the flight.

Suddenly Luciano, saw Sofia with her pretty hairdo, and he hit the brakes, with Sienna running into his backside.

'Hello there, ' he croaked, a little out of breath.
Sofia, glanced at him, and said, 'Twit!' then went back to eating.
Not taking the hint, he hopped on to the perch she was on, and sidled up to her.
'Get away from me fool!' (even I got that that one). Luciano however (poor innocent that he is), took it for an invitation to get down to business. He tried to jump her, only to be met by an open beak and a hiss.

Turning tail and retreating, he ran into Sienna, flutterng eyelashes and tail simultaneously. ....

Needless to say, my poor innocent boy had an interesting afternoon, as his days of bachelorhood came to a rather abrupt end.

Poor fella. Going from bachelorhood to potentially having to deal with the demands of both a wife and a mistress. I hope he can handle the stress.

Oh the drama!! Hehehehe, I love watching how the relationships start off and progress. You have perfectly put it into words to describe their thoughts

Good luck and I hope the trio all fall in love soon :D

Ginene

I think 'poor Sienna' is not going to take no for an answer Ginene. She's one determined lady, and she's set her eyes on her man (the only Canary man in the flight). Poor Luciano doesn't know it yes, but he's fate is sealed. :-D

Oh the drama, is right!
My boy is smitten, but with the girl who'll have nothing to do with him. He even gave her (Sofia) his favorite sleeping spot, the poor besotted darling.

All she said, was , 'pee you!' as she tucked her pretty hairdo under her wing and went to sleep.

Poor Luciano, went to the other side of the flight to sleep with one of the Gouldian juvies.

Elana - I can see how you had to bring both of these lovely ladies home. They are absolutely gorgeous! They make me want to buy a little lady for my wild man, Bill. It will be interesting to see how this trio works out. No matter which one Luciano choses, they'll have beautiful babies. BTW, has Sofia's egg baby hatched?

Hi Iso,

It was Sienna with the egg, and no :-( No Canary baby for me to raise.

They are both cuties.
I think they're going to need two nests, and my Luciano, is going to be a busy boy from now on... #-o

I think you should get your wild Bill, a bride. Then we can exchange Canary baby pictures :-).

Well, let it not be said , that determination and pure chutzpa don't win the day.

Siena, has commandeered one of those grape vine balls, and is building a nest in it. Luciano, is helping her, AND he's feeding her...

So much for that!!!

The lady saw what she wanted and went after him, and got him.

Sofia, is all but forgotten, and being chased away from the love nest.

Wow, sienna pushed until she got what she wanted. YEESH ;)

Too bad Sofia didn't pair up with Luciano, that crested head could have made some crested kids lol.

No worries Brian, Sofia will get her day. When and if Siena lays eggs and is busy incubating, Luciano will go after Sofia again.

Canaries, are not renown for their faithfulness. The female is responsible for laying eggs, incubating eggs, hatching eggs, and raising the children. Some males will help a little here and there, but not a lot.

So we still may get some crested headeded babies somewhere down the road. :-)

Indeed, my male has taken over most of the feeding duties for his little son now that he's maturing, with mother moving on to nest elsewhere, but he's still pursuing our other female in his free time.

That's pretty much it, Brian. When it comes to Canary boys, they're foot loose and fancy free.
