Well everybody who'd been following the progress of Wee Pokey, will be happy to know, that he finally managed to lift his little fluffy butt off the ground. Woo hoo!

I noticed him trying a little while ago, and it was like watching an Albatross, or a Hercules Aircraft.

Well, he made it! Not very high, mind you, but anything is better than nothing, right?

Horray for little Pokey!

Hello All.

Well, little Pokey is back on the ground

He took off yesterday and sat on a low perch for a little while. Then he decided that he likes the floor in the flight better after all.

I found him sleeping in the corner on the ground. I picked him up, and put him into the play box in the hay. I've been doing that for days now, when it's lights out (don't trust cat at night).

He is so amazingly docile. I pick him up, put him in the box, and he settles himself down and goes back to sleep like nothing happened. In the morning, he's already out of the box exploring.

Right now Luciano, is giving him an early supper, and now he's back to poking around the flight floor, checking out odds and ends.

I wonder, maybe he thinks he's a quail (?)

I think Pokey just loves cuddling with you more than he does being a canary

This evening, Poky was actually sitting on the roof of the nest where he was hatched.
I'll have to check before I go to bed, to make sure that he's somewhere safe . I worry about this little one. I really think that there is something not quite right there, but in other ways, he's just so cute, that he's irresistible.

Well my Friends,

Pokey has finally discovered his wings.
He is perching, he is flying, he's found himself as a BIRD, and he's no longer Mommy's love-bug... sigh~~~

Well, I guess it's time to let him go and become the Canary he was meant to be. I will miss picking him up at night and putting him to bed. Also kissing the little bald spot on top of his head....
