yellow poop
Trixie has been sitting on her platform perch, down on her tummy as if she had eggs (she doesn't) and her poops are yellowish. My starling and pigeon both sit like that sometimes when they're comfy and relaxed, but I've never seen Trixie do it until today, and the yellow poops are definitely different from her usual. Her diet has not changed. I gave her some purple grapes a couple of days ago, but it didn't look like she ate any and I took them out the next day.

Re: yellow poop
May have something to do with breeding season and a desire to nest. You could give her some papers or grass to play with to entertain her. I'm not sure on the droppings, sometimes a yellow tint can be seen in any birds' droppings early in the morning or after any period of fasting due to a build up of bile. Birds sitting on eggs or thinking they are may not eat as often as they should, resulting in a similar effect. My canary hen Kari will only get off her nest to eat or defecate a few times a day during incubation and will have large rather off-colored droppings at this time, but of a green, not so much yellow tint, which I always put off to a diet with so much green food. What vegetables does your hen eat? Does she eat colored pellet foods? These can turn dropping a brilliant yellow or even red or green but not all the time, it seems to depend on the bird whether the colors pass into the droppings or are broken down in digestion.

Re: yellow poop
Yellow droppings can be a sign of cochlosoma, campylobacter and/or yeast to name a few.
Are the dropping watery or have undigested seed in them? Is your bird losing weight and/or have dirty vent feathers? Does your bird have yellowish masses in the throat?
These are all other signs to watch for to help diagnose a problem
Hope it's nothing, good luck

Re: yellow poop
Turns out she's just broody. After ignoring her nest all this time other than to occasionally use it for a temporary perch, this morning she's sitting in it, very alert and proud of herself. I'm sure there's an egg under her. She's a bachelorette, but that doesn't stop my pigeon from laying eggs, either. LOL I just didn't recognize the signs in a canary and now I feel really stupid because my pidge acts very much the same way when she's getting ready to lay.

Hope it's nothing other than wishful thinking.
Maybe she needs a little boy Canary, to keep her company, and make her wishes come true, hmmm?
lol.....

No, no, no. We have nine birds already. And my platy fish had babies recently. And we have two dogs. And a lizard. Trixie will just have to resign herself.
