canary nesting...

Although they are technically passerines, canaries tend to be managed uniquely, so here is a forum just for them!

canary nesting...

Post by imac » Wed Jun 03, 2015 6:19 pm

Can anyone advise me on this matter..about month ago my pair 2 canaries were in an shed part off my aviary till weather picked up. They started to lay 3 eggs. But never sat on them. So week or so later I moved nest outdoors to aviary and now they wont even go in nest not even at night. They sleep on branches outside. But while they were inside shed part aviary they apways were in nest. Should I move them back into shed or just leave them outdoors see will they lay more eggs again..

If they are not getting ready to lay or are incubating eggs/chicks in the nest, my canaries do not sleep in it. The females will fly around with material in their beaks when they are in the nesting mood.
