How many canaries

Although they are technically passerines, canaries tend to be managed uniquely, so here is a forum just for them!

How many canaries

Post by Rosa » Wed Dec 30, 2015 4:50 pm

How many canaries would fit in a flight cage that is approximately 4 ft long, 2 ft wide, and 3 ft high?
I have two in there already, would there be room for one or two more?

I think you should be ok size wise... However (you mention that you're a fourth generation Canary owner), so you must know that the boys will get into squabbling amongst themselves (especially if there are girls around) and may have to be seperated.

I have a Father, with his two sons and one daughter housed together right now. Another son and an unrelated female, used to be housed with the other four, but had to be removed to another flight (due to brotherly fighting).

Yes, German rollers are apparently some of the most aggressive canaries.
