R.I.P. Winifred

Although they are technically passerines, canaries tend to be managed uniquely, so here is a forum just for them!

R.I.P. Winifred

Post by Maleficum » Sat Feb 27, 2016 5:59 am

This morning I found my canary female Winifred dead on the cage floor :((
Image
Now Malte is flying around, singing and chirping and looking for her :(

They both were in bad condition when I got them (bad food, small cage, probably laid a loot of eggs (they had newly lain eggs when I got them)) but with good food and the right light they started to get better but sadly Winifred never really got as strong and alert as Malte and she was still a bit thin and never really did fly as good as Malte do.
She was born 2013 so not a long life but hopefully the last few month she was happy with lots of space and good and varied food and the right lighting.

Poor girl. You made the time she had with you the best. You should be proud.

I just hope Malte will do better and live a loong healthy life. I just have to find him a new mate.
Right now he is sitting in the exact same spot Winifred sat in last night.
