Peculier behavior from male

So I got back from vacation today and am sending some time with my canaries. One of the males who is currently paired up and nesting 1st clutch is acting peculiar. He is hanging at the bottom of the cage more where I am sitting. He don't look sick, and he is still singing.
Problem is I haven't seen him feed the hen yet. Could this be he missed me and know who I am cause I was feeding him daily, then went on vacation, or that he is sick, or maybe. I was just told that if they hang at the bottom of cage this isn't a good sighn.
my other assumption is he is just tired and is taking a break?

I would keep an eye on this boy.
How long has he been sitting on the bottom? Is he eating normally, and still flying around, still perching when you're not sitting by the flight? Are his feathers fluffed up?
Canaries, do bond with their humans, and will come over to be close to you and visit. Many will even accept treats (seeds, greens, etc.) right out of your hand.
However, prolonged sitting on the bottom of the flight, is not unusually a good sign.
What sort of diet are you offering your kids by the way?

Like Elana mentioned before, just monitor him.
If he is still singing thats a good sign as usually they dont sing if they are not in good shape.

He seems to be doing good. I will still monitor his behavior.

lovezebs thanks for asking. He is doing great. I think he just missed me being away. He is so used to me being in the room and watching him every night. I was on vacation for a week and had a sitter change out the water and food daily. When I returned I think he was welcoming me back home, and saying where ya been. I was just not used to seeing him hang out at the bottom f the cage. he had plenty of food and water. His hen was also busy trying to hatch her first clutch of eggs. Sadly only 1 egg successfully hatched but the chick didn't survive the night. The hen is already raring to go for her second clutch though. I hope its not to early. I didn't want to push it. but she is the one pestering the male.
