desperate canary

this morning my young canary woke up not making a peep.this very strange,he goes off in the mornings like an Euro goldfinch in heat.he is also eating like his life depends on it and tries to start his song but he sounds very weak.he is not standing still tho he is hopping from perch to air back to same perch like crazy.it just set him loose in my room to see if he just need to exercise. please help
please ignore and delete he is fine :)

i gave him treatment for mites and the change was virtually instant.dont know how he got sick over night but he surely did. in fact yesterday was he best singing day but better safe than sorry.

I'm glad your boy is feeling better.
Another thing to keep in mind, is that Canaries will not sing, when they're molting.

Sorry, I just wanted to re-write this.....I know its the end of the year however I didnt know they didnt sing while molting, that was why I was "oooohhhh". Interesting fact to know.

Give him about 30 days to complete the molt and he will start singing again. Usually irregular lighting can make a canary go into an early or off season molt. Just keep him well fed and extra vitamins, molting is very stressful for them.
