My Reds have eggs!
My red/bronze pair have an egg!
I thought these two would never get along!
They fought like crazy, but now they have settled down.

I made sure I got the proper mix. The male is red, and the female is a bronze. The babies should be fantastic!

if canaries are fighting and are of the opposite sex they are fighting because one is in condition to mate and the other is not. After a wile if they are forced to be in the same cage will catch up to each other and begin to properly mate.
This I assume is there first attempt at a clutch. Don't be upset if the eggs aren't fertile, in fact be patient. If none are fertile then remove the eggs after day 16 to 18 add some new nesting material and I can guarantee you that they will try again and be more successful. this just means that the pair wasn't quite ready to do the insemination process but next round they will be if not forced to go into a molt.
If one laid an egg its obvious that you have at least 1 hen. other signs of fighting could be: you have 2 males. you have 2 hens fighting over the nest and wanting to take ownership. Or you have a pair that just aren't compatible enough or weren't given enough time to adjust to each other.
Hope this clutch is fertile and works out. its an amazing experience to watch the process not to mention the wait time.

Re: My Reds have eggs!
Thank you Jamm972.
It's a true pair, the male sings like crazy.
It is their first time and if the eggs aren't good, they will try again.
I have a pair of goulds did the same thing. Four eggs were no good.
After 30 years of having birds I've seen a lot.
But then I have had first timer raise five chicks the first time!
Go figure ?
Thanks again!

BigBear0007 Your welcome. Id like to invite you to my other topic with me and Animalzoo we have been talking back and forth about our canary progress about eggs. It originally started out as When to remove the eggs. Now it has flourished into a topic al about eggs, and baby chicks and what's to come next. I will tag you in topic if you'd like to join us and give us an update on the eggs.

Here is a few pics of the two babies. Two off the three eggs hatched!
One will be a cinnamon/red like mom. But what do I have with the little dark one?

Congrats! Beautiful babies.
I recon the other dark one will be dad. More grey then red. Lovely combo, I have similar pairs to yours and they so come out beautiful.
Will you allow them to go for a 2nd clutch straight away?

Thanks, it would be nice if it was grey and red!
Oh, I will let them go for another clutch.
They really four eggs but the first she laid on the stick so I didn't count that one. I hope the second round they have at least three or four babies? But I will be happy with whatever they have?

What do I have here? The dark I'm pretty sure will look like his mum.
But what is this cinnamon one? How did that get there? Milkman pay a visit?

They look great! You never know what the grandparents looked like and what is in the genes.
Did the parents start another clutch in the end?
