Why has the German Roller decreased in popularity?

Although they are technically passerines, canaries tend to be managed uniquely, so here is a forum just for them!

In your opinion, what accounts for the decline in popularity of the German Roller? Why has the American Singer become the preeminent bird of North America?

I would hazard a guess, that the German Roller, is not as readily available as the American.

Most people, just want a Canary, who has a pretty song, they don't really care if it's a particular mutation.
