Nestling food

Hi everyone,
At our bird club meeting last night the speaker was the president of the local canary club. He said he's been breeding and showing canaries for almost 50 years and he told us about the nestling food he uses exclusively: any dry commercial egg food (like CeDe) combined with a lot of cooked quinoa, some extra calcium and vitamin E.
My question is in regards to the quinoa: have any of you mixed it in with your egg food? Liked the results? I tried offering quinoa to all my birds uncooked as part of the daily seed mix and none wanted any part of it.

Some people cook it for their birds.

I have tried it, but my guys were not really keen on it.
