Red agate Mosaic Canaries

Although they are technically passerines, canaries tend to be managed uniquely, so here is a forum just for them!

Red agate Mosaic Canaries

Post by Razasings » Fri Jul 07, 2017 5:30 pm

I was wondering my canary pair hatched 4 out of 5 eggs that the gen laid, my question is would it be wise to remove the 5th unfertile egg?

I usually let them be, and remove the unhatched eggs when the chicks are about 10 days old.

It is good to have one or two eggs with the chicks when they are hatchlings for it helps them on having something to prop wile begging.

Yeah I would leave the egg in there for a few days to help the chicks to have some thing to prop themselves on. Maybe just keep an eye out in case the egg cracks or breaks open then I would remove it. You can remove the egg after a few days of hatching, the chicks should be strong enough then to support themselves.
