Dutch frill

Although they are technically passerines, canaries tend to be managed uniquely, so here is a forum just for them!

Dutch frill

Post by Rob » Tue Oct 10, 2017 11:32 am

I visited a local breeder the other day who was quite proud of his frill canaries. I've since done a bit of research, but from what I've seen they're almost always yellow. Is it generally frowned upon to introduce color variations?

Rob

They do come in other colours...

But you are right, that most of them tend to be yellow.
Personally I don't see the big hype about the Frills. They look like a normal Canary, that had been dragged through a hedge backwards in my opinion, lol.

The white one is not too ragged looking, but lovezebs I agree with you

These are the two females I picked up. It's almost like they're two ballerinas. The reason I ask about color, is typically type canaries are kept pure, and the Raza canary for example you want as close to the original color as possible. From what I was told, the feathering wouldn't transfer unless the cock had frill anyway, but I don't want to upset any purists by mixing them with a yellow agate for example.
