Bleaching Your Canaries???

Although they are technically passerines, canaries tend to be managed uniquely, so here is a forum just for them!

Bleaching Your Canaries???

Post by lovezebs » Wed Nov 01, 2017 8:04 pm

Hi Folks,

I just couldn't help myself....
I laughed and laughed when I read this ad.

https://www.kijiji.ca/v-birds/calgary/4 ... nFlag=true

It's amazing how one little word can change everything :) .

Haha, I saw that ad earlier and figured autocorrect messed up, and then I saw your post labelled "bleaching your canaries" and thought "is it.. real..?" assuming you were asking about proper technique or something ha.

I am sure kijiji lets you edit your add. I don't understand how they can leave it there like that.

I'd be going bananas trying to fix the auto-correct. But I guess it would not be nearly as fun. *giggle*

That's why I turned my auto correct off a long time ago, lol. That silly thing seemed to have a mind of it's own, and I couldn't stand it anymore. I figure my spelling is not SO bad that I need it that badly.

My goodness whatever next, I'd most definitely try to edit that article,

It's eaither one of two things: it's eaither a genuine miss type within the add or maybe the owner is extremely thick and thinks colour feeding is done with the use of bleach =)) :))

Next week the add will probably say birds with vivid black markings..........with the help of a permanent marker #-o ....... :-J

Buah ha hah.... =))

I think they were trying to say 'breeding', but you'd think they would have caught such a silly, glaring mistake, before putting it out there for the whole world to see.

Don't give people ideas about the permanent marker, lol.... years ago it was shoe polish on horses, now markers on Canaries.... ~X( .

Trust me Elana as you know that I've got a lot of experience in the British finch world and I've seriously seen some strange things happen,

I've known of people here in England in fact even in me home town to use marker pens on the British finches , especially Siskin hens so it makes em look twice as good as they really are for when it comes to selling them [-X

There's some crazy stuff out there I can assure you, many of which I've seen meself and in truth nothing really surprises me these days,

Even had a late freind ( God bless him ) who had a fantastic greenfinch hen that had completely broken it's front toe nail right off, he actually tried to super glue the toe nail back onto the birds toe and surprisingly it did look ok,

The following week the bird was exhibited at one of me local club shows and where it actually took best British bird in show :-??

In this instance the bird was perfectly ok and not harmed in any way, at the time i honestly admit that I was a bit sceptical about the idea of me mate doing this but nowadays I think back and just laugh at the thought of a bird winning a big show with a super glued toe nail :-J

My gawd how many cans of Aqua-net that poor bird endured! Hahaha

The glued toe blue ribbon winner! How did that guy keep a straight face? I would have been cracking up the entire time. :))
