My bird Thorondor has been flying down to the ground and hopping around my room. Is this cause for concern?

HI, if it looks healthy and active and not fluffed up I don't think so. My canaries spend half their time on the floor picking around at things. I think they are probably naturally ground feeders. Regards Mick.

It's normal. In the wild birds forage on the ground so it is also a common instinct in pet birds. Just be careful not to step on it!

Okay so he was just hopping around and what I think was trying to forage. Now he is just sitting there on the ground resting. Instead of resting up on a perch or in his cage

If he feels tired and rests on the floor it's fine. If it is for long periods of time and he can't seem to get up or is puffed up he is sick. If you have seen sick birds before, you should be able to notice the difference between the 'cold' puff up or the 'sick' kind.
