My tame are so much fun, they love to sit on my head and follow me about the aviary...does Ray come to you, sit on your shoulder?

No he doesn't come to me, but unlike the java I used to let free fly, he's very easy to catch. I can pretty much walk up to him wherever he lands and pick him up. Don't know if it's true or not, but I've heard that if they're too tame (too bonded to people) they may not breed well.

Lucky Ray! When does he get a mate? Hmmm, baby bourkes at Bob's house. What could be better?

I'll get him a mate Charlie as soon as I can find a nice rosy hen in my area. No big rush, he still has a few months to go before reaching breeding age. And yes, I'm looking forward to baby bourkes at Bob's house! Bob

I have had different species that the male or hen or both were tame and they remained that way after raising a clutch or two. I think it depends on the bird.

Ray, enjoying some free time out again, atop a rocking chair draped with my sweatshirt. I love this bird! He is so mellow and cool - and is probably the least finicky eater of any bird I've ever owned. He tries every seed in the mixture. Got to get him a girlfriend soon. Bob
