English and American budgie together

Can you keep an English budgie with a regular budgie? If yes can they be the same gender?

My sweetest pair of parakeet were two males, one English and one normal size, that were never apart for a moment. They were both very gentle birds and they were soul mates to the end.

that's so sweet. I decided to get 2 budgies, I'am not going to wait to get some. I think I'am just going to get what ever budgie that catches my eye.
