Almost makes me wish I got involved with scarlet chested instead of bourkes to fill my "hookbill void". But then again, my bourke is a great little bird, and I wouldn't trade him away for anything. Good luck!

It has been a while since I added any info and pictures to this thread... I have 5 pairs of scarlets and have had lots of young form my pairs. The latest 2 clutches are from the same parents, one a March hatch and the second is from May. I have also redone my cage set ups and added more long flights.

The flights on the black stands house breeder pairs, they are 5 ft long.

The flights on the wooden shelving unit are 4 ft long, bottom houses a pair, middle flight houses young including a young juvenile pair, some of the males are just getting a dot or two of red on their chests (February and March hatch). Top flight are young from May hatch.

Yes, the baby pics are wonderful. The 2nd day I looked in my nest box, I was a bit aghast, as I thought I had a freak of nature in there. When I looked at my 1st baby, I saw a 2nd head.....yikes....then I realized it was a whole 2nd chick.
Today I nudged mom away a little with my flashlight, but there's still an egg under her.....maybe it will hatch today & I'll have 3 babies. If not, I'm certainly satisfied with my two chicks

The young pair I posted, both hatched and raised here matured and have little ones of their own. The third generation!!!
