New Hookbill Forum

Post by L in Ontario » Wed May 30, 2012 1:40 pm

Since so many members also have hookbill birds of one type or another, there is now a separate forum for all these birds. Hookbills are more domesticated than the exotic finches, and so advice for hookbills does not apply to finches or canaries. Previous threads dealing with hookbills will gradually be moved into this new forum.

This forum will cover all aspects of all hookbills such as: parrotlets, budgies, lovebirds, parakeets, parrots, etc.

That sounds great, is we don't get too much traffic from the parrot group, once they hear about this? I like the finches by themselves, personally; however, I could use information on hookbills, but it seems so different from finches. I guess we'll see what others think.

That's why we separated the canaries and the hookbills from the finches - so everyone can go to the specific forum quickly and easily to find all related information pertaining to the type of bird they have. HIH

The thinking is that this is primarily an exotic finch forum, so that is what will be covered with the main board index. But since many members have birds other than exotic finches, posts about hookbills and canaries popped up all over the forum. Much of the information about these species is different than what we read about for our exotic finches. With a separate forum for canaries and another for hookbills, we hope information on these other species can be centralized, leaving the main forum for exotic finches. This gives those members with canaries and/or hookbills a place to talk about their other birdie pets, without taking away from the main focus--exotic finches. Exotic finches will be by themselves once again.

Oh, I get it. That should work well. I know lots of people love their pets, no matter which species. :)

I meant on other forums about hookbills. There are some that don't show respect for other forum members. I totally agree that here we have a nice family atmostphere and lots of help and cooperation. I was worried some may come here (when they hear about a hookbills section) and not "behave." At the same time, I know you mods will keep them in line.
