New Lovebird Rescue :D

Post by Cath1068 » Sun Sep 02, 2012 9:47 pm

Last wednesday I rescued an abused lovebird. She was/is in pitiful condition poor thing. She has no tail and missing breast feathers and she has an eye injury that was left un-treated so I am treating that and giving her better food with feather fast to help her out. I found out through other bird people that she is a " Dutch Blue" mutation and I am already in love with her. I named her Sydney and today my hubby said I could keep her. I had a backup with another lovebird person close by should he have said no. She is very friendly but afraid of my hand and runs off squacking but I just pick her up and she is fine. Here she is..........

Aw, poor thing! How good of you to rescue her =D> :D Can't wait to see her get healthier and grow those tail feathers back. Whoever let her get into that condition should be ashamed of themselves [-X . At least she has a loving home now :)

Glad she found you Cathy! I thought she was a Dutch Blue when I saw her picture on fbk. I had a Dutch Blue, a female named Elise...the colors are so soft. I hope she adjusts well and settles into your family well....she will be loved and cared for, that is for sure.

That's great! She is beautiful, even without the tail feathers.

Poor little girl :( some people shouldn't be allowed near any animal let alone own them. I'm so happy she's in a better place now. She will be your best buddy in no time.

Awwwwww thank you everyone. She already has breast feathers coming in and she is beginning to sing when she hears Mili ( my juvie male canary) do his baby song. She sounds like she is trying to mimic him only on a much louder scale...... LOL I am hoping she doesnt get too loud for the hubby cuz I really wanna give her a try and a chance. She deserves it after being kept with in the same cage as a bonded pair that beat her up so badly..... :D
