My new Budgies

Post by Tiffany » Mon Oct 08, 2012 7:14 pm

Here are my newest Budgies. I got them on September 30th. They are really bonded. Hoping to breed them next year when they are breeding age. I'm not sure on their ages but I know Dapple is younger than Willow.

Dapple, Male Yellowface Dominant Pied Cobalt

Beautiful birds but I have a question for you. If Dapple is a true albino, can you be certain she is a hen. Don't you sex budgies by the color of the nose cere? Bob
3 canaries
2 orange cheeked waxbill finches
2 java finches, 1 split to normal, 1 white
2 bourke parakeets
1 american staffordshire/american pit bull terrier
1 boston/jack russel terrier mix
6 adopted stray cats
2 adult, 1 young leopard gecko
4 fish tanks and 4 fish bowls
3 turtles
2 teenage kids and 1 wife

You sex by the color of the cere but it can be harder on Albinos, Lutinos, Dominant Pieds, recessive Pied, Clearflight Pied Exc. Its harder to find Male Albino's.

On Male Albino's the cere will be Deep pink or purple on females the cere will be White or tan around the nostrils.

Yes Dapple's coloring is what drew me to him.

Oh, OK - and I meant Willow being the hen, but I guess you figured that out. :) Bob

Yeah. :) Never sex Budgies by their behavior. Both male and female will sing, talk, exc. Always sex by cere or DNA sex.

I love Dapple, YF is one of my favorite mutations, I'm breeding my YF2 to a sky blue so I can get more blue in the young.
