Both my hens are between 14 and 15 months now, males are both 4 months younger. The hens are displaying the urge to nest so up when the boxes on both flights!!

Both hens went into their boxes almost within 10 minutes of them being up, the males followed.

I am so excited, been waiting to put them to nest since they were little youngsters!!!!!!!

Thank you Elma, both pairs are checking out the box. The floor has pine shaving knocked out so I know the hens are starting to work the boxes.

Last night I was watching the pair in the black flight, they are really interested in the box, the female has been in and out of the box all day. At one point the hen was in the box, the male flew off to get a drink, came back to the box, peeked in and got a face full of pine shavings!! It was funny! He seemed a bit shocked.

Wow Cindy those are so pretty, scarlet chested parakeets have always been on my dream bird list. I hope they give you tons of babies. Also do you have your scarlets with other birds? Or they by themselves?

These all have long flights to themselves in a different room from my birdroom. Some put them in with passive finches and javas.

They have an 8x8 box.

I've never seen them in private collections here.. But we do have a zoo exhibit with them, and bourkes too. And I think there were rosellas too

Rosellas have some nice mutations but require a bit more space, I also heard the males can be aggressive to hens. I like the size of the scarlets & bourkes.
