Pixie, our little Yellow-sider Green Cheek Conure

Post by cindy » Fri Feb 14, 2014 10:09 am

After the holidays we picked up a baby GCC conure from my friend and finished hand feeding her out. She is a love, funny, energetic, talking just a little. She is now 2 months and 4 days old.

Pixie, our little Yellow-sider GCC.

Rummy is not near her much, he gets moody and can bite so they get separate play time

Pixie will be 2 yrs old soon and has become quiet the little member of the family!! She is very playful, love lots of attention, her time out of the cage with us but likes "her" time in the cage also (lots of toys and different food placements to keep her busy).

She has quiet the vocabulary and loves the game of "whistle". She will say the word "whistle" we will say it back and whistle to her and she will whistle and it begins...it can go on for quiet a while!!! She does enjoy a good game of peek-a-boo!

I highly recommend little green cheeks as a pet bird!!!

She is very cute and has an awesome name. I was contemplating a green cheek, but I am hesitant of their high pitched voice, so settled on linnies....which are very different than gc but fit my lifestyle and noise tolerance. But every time I hear about other people's gcc I think about my empty cage in the garage......:)

She is only noisy when for some reason I unload the dishwasher???? When starts we play the whistle game... the calling stops really fast!!! She loves the game and between my husband and I we have her quiet in no time... a plus side with her... she knows and watches the dogs, if they start barking she calls their name and tells them to "shush", sometimes she beats me to it!!!

She hears my husband come home from work and greets him with a "hey!!"

She has been a blessing and a love. She can get temperamental but nothing like a parrotlet...she is very easy to make happy!!

I agree especially if you want to interact with them - which I think is a must. They are so intelligent and have such individual personalities. <3

So cute Cindy!

Do you still have your little male parrotlett from a couple years ago?
