Trust a lady to stir everything up. Beautiful birds.

Hopefully you find a solution to the "problem". I've never bred hookbills so have no idea how they would do between finches. Not sure if there are others here who kept breeding budgies along with finches.

Good luck.

Not necessary. He already knows the new bird is a hen.

Dylan, you could try putting the pair into a breeding cage with a box, in a different room. That way, they would not be upset about their loss of freedom because they would be busy. Then when they were finished raising their clutch, you might be able to put them back into the flight room. (And you would have to sell off the babies.)

But unfortunately, just the presence of nests in the flight room will trigger this sort of thing. And this is also the reason why most hookbill people don't house budgies with any other species. (Sometimes budgies and cockatiels will share an aviary nicely, but I have never heard of budgies getting along with finches.)

Who knows. Maybe the pair will adapt well to living in a cage, and then you can just leave the two male budgies in the bird room, since they seem to be doing well.

34 Budgies
13 Gouldian Finches
13 Society Finches
6 Owl Finches
4 Yellow Face Star finches
16 Bourke's Parakeets
4 Cockatiels

5 chickens!

OMG this signature is so outdated! Make that 50 chickens!

Finnie The issue resolved itself. The pair spent a couple of weeks away without a nest, whilst the current batch of spice and society chicks fledged. Once they fledged, all nests were taken down, and the pair, calmed by their solitude, were returned a while back. There has been no aggression on anybody's part since.
