LOVE the photos of your Bourkes. I came sooooo close to buying one from a lady here locally, and I still might get one! But I have a question...I have a flight cage with one female and two male budgies. Could I house my Bourke with them? Would they get along? I'd like to know a little more about Bourkes. I think they are so beautiful and always admire them when I see them at the bird fares. Let me know your opinion. Thank you!

Hi Jenny well I am not that well versed with regard to housing Bourkes and Budgies. Budgies are more active then Bourkes. Bourkes are very quite versus Budgies. I don't have any other birds in with mine. They seem to be active early in the day (dawn) and at dusk. They talk (chirp/whistle) at one another and very seldom chase or peck each other.
I love their calm and quite habits I can open the flight door to change water and food dishes and they stay calm.

I'm sure you will love them once you get them.

Hope this helps you to take that step to get some Bourkes... Good Luck

Nice birds! are they noisy like budgies? I like the hookbills but the noises they make would make me and the neighbors meeting a hazardous thing hahha

Kristofer the Bourkes are very quite not at all noisy like the Budgies. Budgies climb around the cage play with toys and chatter alot not the Bourkes.

They would be great for apt. living.

Would they tolerate being kept outside? in a covered flight cage, were the temps sometimes drop to around 6 degrees?

My Bourkes are inside but one of the breeders I bought one pair from in Southern Oregon had outside aviaries however her birds had access to heated rooms.

Without access to heated areas I wouldn't keep them outside.

Thank you for your response. You have such beautiful birds!!! I know someone who had several "related" birds to sell and I hate to pass up the opportunity to get one. But with the cold weather we've had in Texas so far and all my issues with my new hatchlings of different species in my outside aviary....I'm worried about adding to my flock at this time of the year! I just HATE to miss out on an opportunity! Oh well....I'm going to do what's best for my birds.... But thanks for your input!
