Hiding in my hair
Franklin has learned he likes to hide in my hair. My hair is so think and long. I feel and hear him preening in there. Once in a while he pokes out his head to say hello. Lol! Is this still considered bonding time even though there is no interaction per say? I feel like my giving him attention needs to be just that. Talking, petting, having him step up etc. is this true?

I think that's cute, Tammie. Is it bonding time? I think it is. A lot of birds seem to like people's hair. I know my Lovebirds used to really enjoy playing with my hair, which at the time was quite long.

Aw, that's sweet!
I've had birds that loved sitting on my shoulder amidst my hair. The more skiddish ones seem to prefer it. I imagine it makes them feel sort of enclosed.
That definitely counts as bonding time!
You're spending time together so it counts as bonding. This passive type of bonding is actually very important as the bird gets familiarized with you and your mannerisms and the way you move. That's important. They need to be familiar with your movements; they need to trust that you won't do anything sudden or unexpected or frightening. So it's a key part of the trust building process.
Oh, be careful if you wear earrings!
Many will go for your earrings.

Good! But the past couple days, he has a mind of his own. He refuses to come out of his cage, even if I leave it open all day and I wait all day, he just won't! Lol! He has gotten stubborn! Is this a phase? I love it when he bonds and snuggles. It is cute. I just wish it was more consiststant.
